Daniel Kevin Harris, 29, was shot and killed by North Carolina state trooper Jermaine Saunders Thursday after a pursuit that ended at Harris’ home, authorities said. His family and friends assumed
the cops misunderstood Harris since he was deaf and using American Sign Language. According to the police, Harris failed to pull over during a traffic stop and ran a police chase to his home which lasted seven miles. Soon after arrival, Harris jumped out of his car without following police commands. The police officer opened fire and Harris was killed on the scene. Trooper Saunders is black and has been placed on administrative leave upon pending investigation by the police department.
